A plan to increase the participants in the Asian Cup to 24 teams

Union plans AFC to increase the number of teams participating in the finals of the Asian Cup for the popular game to 24 teams instead of the current number of 16 teams .
The plan comes as part of changes aimed at increasing the number of international matches for the Asian teams .
Said Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Asian Football Confederation said in a statement , "I am confident that the changes that will take place will have a huge impact on Asian football and will be channeled to the benefit of the member states of the Union. "
